Handy in-plant utility transportation for goods and people. Fiberglass body mounts two upholstered seats and provides space for carrying tools, cases, etc. Overall width is 44-in., height to top of seat is 26-in. Unit does not interfered with the use of front or centered mounted equipment.
As a general rule, I prefer front mounted equipment. But, I’m always willing to consider rare and unique rear mounted equipment such as the Viking Roller Blade. The description as listed in the SDE brochure:
Roller Blade–VIKING
Versatile roller blade with seeder. Grades, levels, mulches, and distributes seed. Grid-type roller leaves a distinctive soil pattern to absorb rainfall, resist erosion. By use of the slicing attachment, this machine can be used to aerate, fertilize, and over-seed existing lawns. Roller blade width is 36 inches. Width of seeder is 30 inches.
It was getting to be a big job just to keep tractors running and stored with all the attachments I’ve accumulated. So I decided to make some “dollies” just to store, transport and display these attachments. This video shows four of these dollies.
I didn’t really care for the hydrostatic drive that I used on the original Artie, so I rebuilt it with a gear drive. It turned out to be a bigger job than the hydrostatic drive, but I like it a lot better now that it’s done. Since the new driveshaft goes right through where the gear shift used to be, it now requires two gear shifts. It also required adding a power steering pump for the steering.
These are video clips taken as we tried out our Jiffy Balling mower. It worked pretty well. In the really tall grass the grass sometimes piled up in front of the tractor but it still did a good job of cutting. The only problem I had was with the shield that covers the universal joint. It was loose fitting and I just shoved it back over the universal joint without tightening it. You’ll notice in some of the clips that it moved forward and allowed grass to wrap around the universal joint.
I just finished the Cub Cadet Dozer in time for a local show. I still have some work to do on the steering, but it works OK. It’s steered by braking either rear axle. Braking one side doubles the speed on the opposite side because of the differential action which can result in the track spinning. A 180 degree turn in the yard can destroy some grass.
We purchased the Mott mower with the idea of using it only as a “show-piece”, but it actually does a pretty good job of mowing. The mower itself is much quieter than your usual mower deck.
